“Peak Of September 11”

At a White House ceremony on September 22, 2002, the first President of Kyrgyzstan, Askar Akaev, donated the historical image, “Peak of September 11,” to President George W. Bush. MFF took the photo during an international project in the Tian Shan Mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Anastassia, his daughter, named the 13,000 foot (4,000 m.) high peak in memory of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan later officially confirmed the name of the previously unnamed mountain.
